#wellnesswednesday – Aldila Boutique & Women in Need

Wraps of Hope

Thursday, November 10, I was invited to share in a special celebration as Aldila Boutique hosted a breakfast to announce their partnership with the Women in Need society (WINS). Aldila, a family owned company, is not only a leader in women’s fashion, it has been led and run by women over it’s 31 years of operation, and the owner Elif Costello, is passionate about supporting women.

After receiving a letter from a client thanking the staff for the compassion and kindness shown to her when she was in distress while shopping for an appropriate outfit for a custody hearing, Aldila decided they wanted to partner with a local charity supporting women in each of their locations. In Calgary, Aldila felt WINS was a great fit and Vea Ilnyckij, WINS marketing manager agrees. She is grateful for the support, noting a significant increase in the number of women who access their programs and services.

Aldila created a wrap and partnered with WINS and the Wraps of Hope campaign was born. The wraps represents a warm embrace, reminding women that they are loved and respected. $10 from the sale of each is donated to WINS supporting them in not only providing essentials to women and their families, but also giving them hope.

Guests and media enjoyed a lavish breakfast buffet and had the opportunity to purchase wraps for themselves, as gifts, or as many did, to donate  to WINS. Staff from both Calgary locations were on hand and I was impressed with the warmth shown to everyone. Staff are quick to say they are not just employed, they are part of a family.

This is not about teaming up for just one event, WINS and Aldila see a long term relationship developing. They have plans for a clothing drive in 2018 and that is just the beginning.

As the founder of Women in Need, 25 years ago, I am so very grateful to those who have built it into the remarkable charity, it is today and to the generous community support that contributes to WINS ability to assist and empower women in their times of need.  I was gifted with a lovely red wrap that I will cherish and I felt the warmth of the embrace that this partnership offers.
