We had the pleasure of attending the MS Winter Gala. The event was held at Cibo Resturant on 17th Ave S.W in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. We were informed that Canada has the highest rate of MS: 203 cases per 100,000. Every 11 minutes, someone in Canada is diagnosed with this disorder.
It was a sold out event with amazing designers showcasing pieces from their collections – the talent we have in Calgary is absolutely mindblowing. All of the designers are graduates of The Fashion Institute by Olds College in Calgary. Campus Supervisor, BR Pirri, also attended the event – she was like a proud mother as she sat and watched their amazing designs come down the runway.
Also attending the event were researchers from the MS Society of Canada – supporting the event and, as always, contributing to the cause.
The hair and makeup was beautiful and was sponsored by Eveline Charles Academy. Catherine Larose, Matt Laprairie and Carolyn Scoffield of Natural Talent Alliance Inc. did an amazing job at providing talented models along with Sherri Reeves and Daniela Schoenfeldt from Olds College.
We would like to list the designers that showed, including their credentials:
Janet Chung and Kaare-Ann Madden
Bret Stankowski and Stewart Schamp
Be sure to check them out on social media. Events like these allow people to support a good cause while showcasing just how amazing the talent in this city is. The event had great coverage with Global News and some talented local photographers such as:
Zev Vitaly Abosh
We look forward to attending more events for good causes and seeing more of the talent Calgary has to offer.
