LUSH: Calgary International Fashion and Arts Week
I had the amazing opportunity to attend the annual Calgary International Fashion and Arts Week “LUSH” presented by Spotlight Couronne Internationale Inc. LUSH stands for, Lifestyle, Unconventional, Selfless, High Fashion. A portion of the night’s event went to the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run For The Cure. This event is in its third year and just keeps getting more glamorous every year. As you walked through the entrance, you were treated to a gorgeous flower wall decorated by All Seasons Decor. Walking into the ballroom (also decorated by All Season Decor) was like walking into a fantasy room – there was such an elegant feel to it, with big chandeliers strung all over. The start of the runway had beautiful flowers and the runway was metallic, which reflected the models and looked wonderful. Amazing fashion was evident, with feature designers such as John Ablaza from the Philippines, Kenny Ladaga, and Calgary designer Insig.nia. The models flowed down the runway in gorgeous gowns that lit the room with their sparkles. The hair was pulled back into a beautiful low ponytail and the makeup was fresh with gorgeous hues on the eyes. At times you would see beautiful headpieces in jewels and feathers. The men were not left out – the beautifully coloured suits that walked down the runway made me want all of them! I had goosebumps all night. The elegance of this event was over the top. I crave this type of event that showcases the high fashion Calgary deserves. I was very proud that this kind of event was held in my city… It shows that we are not all about cowboys and beef! Calgary has the talent and ability to show the world that elegance is loud and proud here. In the audience sitting in V.I.P was the Philippine Consulate of Calgary, Consul General Zady Patron, who I was fortunate to meet.

And, of course, you can’t have a fashion show without an amazing host. Gloria Gift had the guests laughing and relaxed at the show along with a small history lesson. It was all agreed that she should host the next one too.
