Fredericton raised, Bob Macleod John wins P. Wallach Peacemaker Award for service at the annual Seeds of Peace NYC Gala, May 9, 2017.

Entrepreneurs, style icon’s, and now changemaker for peace, Bob MacLeod & Steve Byckiewicz won much acclaim for his business and community work over the past four decades.

On May 9th, the Seeds of Peace Foundation will be honouring the Fredericton born and raised MacLeod and his business and life partner, STEVE BYCKIEWICZ, with the John P. Wallach Peacemaker Award for their years of service at the annual Seeds of Peace.

The two are pioneers in their industry renowned after starting Kiss My Face over 35 years ago on a 200-acre farm in New York’s beautiful Hudson River Valley. Most recently, they co-founded a new skincare brand, Nova Scotia Fisherman while continuing their philanthropic work for the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

Speaking from his Manhattan office, MacLeod said he was honoured by the recognition. Seeds of Peace is an organization founded by former WALL STREET JOURNAL reporter JOHN WALLACH.

While covering the Middle East, the hatred young people felt for the “enemy” disheartened him; an enemy they had never once met. So he brought a group of Palestinian and Israeli teenagers together at a rustic camp on a MAINE lake to prove a theory. Of course he was right… they departed a few weeks later as friends forever; landing back home as “seeds” of peace.

Summer 2017 will be the 25th annual gathering of brave young people from “the region” who will meet for the first time since that camp.

Each year SEEDS honors someone at a NYC gala filled with boldface names and ambassadors from the region.

Past honorees include, President Bill Clinton, Israel’s Shimon Peres, Former Secretary of State Madelaine Albright and several journalists.
